Nigeria 3 – 1 Sudan


Nigeria reached the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-1 win over Sudan to advance to Group D.

Villarreal’s first goal, Samuel Chukwueze, gave a good start to three-time Taiwo Awoniyi before taking second place in the Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua.

It took Moses Simon just 30 seconds into the second half to add a third, but Sudan came back with a brace, a change from Walieldin Khedr with 20 minutes left.

Nigeria now have six points from the opening two games, beating Egypt on Tuesday, while Sudan has one point.

The Super Eagles face a team that is third in the last 16 if they can beat Group D.

What’s next for Nigeria and Sudan?

Nigeria face Guinea-Bissau in their final match, stay in the Sky Sports Premier League from 7pm on Wednesday, when Sudan meets Egypt immediately, stay tuned to Sky Sports Football.

The Africa Cup of Nations tournament will be aired on Sky Sports in January and February.

The tournament, which is scheduled to be played in June and July 2021, will be played in Cameroon between January 9 and February 6, 2022, with Sky Sports showing all 52 live matches.
